IDA, Integrert Databehandling AS, was a Norwegian IT company, established in 1963

IDA, Integrert Databehandling AS, was a Norwegian IT company, established in 1963 by all the Norwegian Commercial Banks. At that time the banks did not compete the way they do today, IT resources was scarce and hardware quite expensive. The Norwegian Commercial banks cooperated in establishing IDA to be able to be in the forefront of the technological development. IDA developed the software solutions for the banking business, running the systems with on-line connections to all bank offices, and later also all ATM's in Norway.

IDA celebrated 25 years in operation in 1988, but due to changes official interest and financial policy leading to a totally different competition situation between the largest banks, the up till then successful IT cooperation was terminated in 1989 and IDA split into three smaller companies, Probus (later Teamco, now part of EDB) for IT operations of large main frames, Provida for bank software solutions(now part of TietoEnator) and Payex (now part of Bank Accept/BBS) for EFTPOS, ATM and pay card operations.
